Mashrafe, Rubel Hossain could miss Windies ODI series – sources

Just a week after naming the ODI squad for the series in West Indies, Bangladesh may be making a change to the 16-men squad that they announced. According to Cricfrenzy’s sources, the Tigers are set to send back Rubel Hossain to Bangladesh.
Despite the fact that Rubel was named in the 16-man squad, his poor outing in recent series combined with his no-show in the first Test against West Indies have contributed as a factor for BCB to drop him from the ODI series.
As a result, he could be sent back to Bangladesh based on how he plays in the second Test.

Rubel’s poor form dates back to the final of the Nidahas Trophy where he gave away 22 runs off the penultimate over at a time when Bangladesh needed to defend 34 runs from the last two overs.
Subsequently, Soumya Sarkar, who was bowling the last over, couldn’t defend the 12 runs needed to win the tournament.
The whisper in the air is that the management weren’t particularly happy with his performances and questioned him for holding his pace in the T20I series against Afghanistan – where he leaked a lot of runs.
Rubel Hossain didn’t particularly respond well to the management’s qualms. As a result, both the management and the captain aren’t pleased with the pacer that has taken 107 wickets for Bangladesh in 85 ODI matches.
Meanwhile, in what could be a terrible news for the Tigers, ODI captain Mashrafe Mortaza could also miss the ODI series as his wife requires medical attention due to blood infection.
