Assistant coach of England Paul Farbrace believes that Test captain Joe Root could learn a thing or two from England’s limited overs’ captain Eoin Morgan. Farbrace, who took over the reins of the head coach of the T20 team for the India series, believes that Root’s leadership credentials will definitely become better after watching the war Morgan leads the team.  

"Any experience he has had over the last few days will definitely help him," Farbrace said.

"I am sure he will be watching the way Eoin talks to the team, the way he goes about things and the decisions that he makes.”

Farbrace thinks the two will share conversations where they will discuss about how to fulfill the duties of being England's captain and mentioned that Root started grasping the Test leadership role towards the end of the New Zealand series.

"I am sure those two will have lots of conversations about the role of being England cricket captain whether it is a red or a white ball.

"Towards the end of the New Zealand series this year we started to see Joe really getting to grips with the Test match team as a captain."

There is no doubt that Joe Root is among the best talents in the sport today. He has, however, not played as many T20 games as his contemporaries, something that has made him a little rough in the format.

As a result, he was left out of the third T20I against India as the fit-again Ben Stokes took his spot in the team. However, Farbrace believes that the Test captain has a future in the shortest international format of the game while also labelling him as England’s best player.

"He is our best player. He is a fantastic player in all forms of the game. In T20 you need players who can manipulate the strike and can keep you in the entire game and that is a skill that Joe has.

"He has the ability to hit boundaries. He might not have the power of a Ben Stokes or a Jonny Bairstow but strong cricket shots in T20 cricket will get you where you want.
