Former West Indian pacer happy with penetrative approach

Former West Indian pacer Tony Gray has lauded the West Indian pacers for their aggressive and penetrative bowling after Kemar Roach and co. completely dismantled the Bangladeshi batsmen with their pace and control.
The West Indian pacers took all the 20 Bangladeshi wickets in what was a display of some brutal bowling from the Caribbean kings. And Gray, who played in five Tests and 25 ODIs are for the West Indies, was happy with the consistency of the West Indian pacers.
“I think obviously the fast bowlers have done their job and they have bowled with hostility and aggression and that is exactly what we need, but they have also been consistent with the way they go about things,” Gray said.
He also stated that bowling on pace-friendly tracks against a team that doesn’t particularly enjoying playing against the pacers helped the hosts.

“When you have assistance from the pitches, it helps a great deal, especially when you come up against the teams that don’t like fast bowling,” Gray said.
It is not all about pace as the control of the West Indian pacers also stood out, something that pleased Gray a lot.
“We are making an aggressive statement, we are making a penetrative statement and it is much more than just technical incompetence by the opposing batsmen. I think it is because of the fact that we are bowling more consistently and we are sticking to a game plan,” Gray said.
Finally, he concluded by saying that the Tigers should have shown more grit and determination as they fell too easily in the first Test. The second Test begins on the 12 of July at Sabina Park.
