With the cricket World Cup to take place next year, the scheduling of the Indian Premier League was a major talking point among the cricket aficionados. It has, however, been revealed by a BCCI official that the 2019 edition of the Indian Premier League will be played between March 29 and May 19 of next year.

This means that the tournament will take place just before the World Cup. In fact, if IPL finishes on 19th May, then the players will only get 10 days in between as the World Cup begins on the 30th May.

“The 2019 IPL will be played between March 29 and May 19. But we need to maintain a 15-day gap and World Cup starts on May 30. Therefore as per a 15-day gap, we could have only played on June 5. Earlier, we were scheduled to start on June 2 but we couldn’t have played on that day,” a BCCI official told PTI.

India’s first game in the tournament is against South Africa on the 5th of June. Initially, the Men In Blue were set to begin their tournament from the 2nd of the month, but it has now been delayed by two days with the conclusion of the IPL in mind.

As a result, the Indian players will get a cushion of 15 days from the end of IPL to the beginning of the World Cup.

The full fixture list hasn’t been announced yet, but it has been revealed that India will take on Pakistan on the 16th of June.
