Yuvraj Singh lifts lid on retirement prospect

World Cup-winning Indian star Yuvraj Singh has opened up about how long he could continue playing the game of cricket. The Punjab star has not had an entirely great time over the last few years and his performances in this year’s IPL have also not been inspiring.
In his statement to ANI, he revealed that he wishes to play until 2019 at least and will make a decision about what to do next right after.
"I am going to look to play till 2019, whatever cricket I get to play. I will take a call when that year is over.
"Everybody has to take a decision after a while. I have been playing international cricket since 2000, it has been almost 17-18 years on and off. So, I will definitely take a call after 2019.”
Moving on to the Indian Premier League, Singh stated that the first objective of Kings XI Punjab is to qualify for the playoffs and is hopeful about it because of the overall strength of the team.

"We are looking ahead to first qualify in the last four and I think we have got a great team this year. We have got a very powerful batting attack, smart bowling attack, and hopefully we look to qualify and then see if we can win the finals," he said.
With 229 runs three games, Chris Gayle’s tempest has weaved a maelstrom in which the tournament now finds itself reeling. And Yuvraj Singh has heaped praise on the big West Indian by labelling him as one of the most destructive batsmen in the format while also expressing his joy at his form.
"Oh, I am loving it. Chris has always been a friend off the field. He has been a great batsman, probably one of the most dangerous batsmen in the world and performing like a boss on the field. I am really happy for him and the way he is batting,"
When speaking about the best teams in the league, he named Chennai and Kolkata as having two really strong teams that can do very well in the tournament.
"T20 cricket is unpredictable. Anybody can win on any day. But Chennai has always been a very consistent team and KKR has been playing really well. I think these are two really good teams in the IPL," he concluded.
Right now, Chennai are leading the table with Kings XI Punjab right behind them. Kolkata Sunrisers are at three and four but there are still a lot of games to be played, which is why anything can happen in the near future.
