Shaun Tait blames Mustafiz-Bumrah no-balls for defeat

Former Australian speedster Shaun Tait has pointed his finger at the direction of Mustafizur Rahman and Jasprit Bumrah over bowling no-balls in the crunch-end of the game against the Rajasthan Royals.

The offence was started by Mustafizur Rahman when he bowled a wayward beamer to Jofra Archer. While he might not have been taken to the cleaners in the subsequent free-hit ball, the last two balls of that over went for 10 overs – shifting the momentum back in Rajasthan’s favour.

Bumrah then bowled the next over and gave away 18 runs, including a front-foot no-ball, and Tait believes that it is these little issues that take the game away from a team.

"I think one-percenters like that [Mustafizur beamer and Bumrah no-ball] could change the game. There is no doubt they will be the bowling coach for the next couple of days talking about those little things like that. It's these simple little mistakes that can change the course of the game, especially in T20 cricket. And it will be going around in [their] head for sure,” he told ESPNCricinfo.

Shaun Tait was one of the fastest bowlers in the history of the game and was among the few people who could entertain the crowd with his bowling. Fans were at the edge of their seat when Tait was bowling his most memorable spell to Imran Farhat as he clocked up over 160 kmph and had the crowd hoping that he would break the record of the fastest ball ever recorded when Shoaib Akhtar threw a flaming bolt of 161.3 kmph to Nick Knight.

In the end, however, Tait couldn’t breach it as Akhtar’s record stayed intact. Like many express pacers, the Australian always had a tendency of over-stepping and, according to him, it was one of the hardest problems he faced in his career.
