New venue of Chennai home games announced

As it had been earlier reported, the home games of Chennai Super Kings have been shifted away from Chepauk’s M. A. Chidambaram stadium. The new venue wasn’t known at the time but the Indian Premier League have now confirmed that the new venue for Chennai’s home games is Pune’s Maharashtra Cricket Association’s stadium.
The reason for moving the venue is security concerns surrounding hosting games at Chepauk. For the first game against Kolkata, 10 protestors were arrested for trying to lock the main gate of the stadium.
While Chennai may have won their first homecoming game in a thrilling manner – scoring 17 runs from the last over against Vinay Kumar – the protestors showed their dismay by throwing shoes on the ground.
Over 4000 police personnel were hired to ensure that the match runs without any hiccup as protestors kept dissenting against IPL matches being played in the state of Tamil Nadu.

"The IPL Governing Council assessed the current situation in Chennai and a decision was taken to shift the matches from the MA Chidambaram Stadium to Pune,” an official statement from IPL read.
The track at Pune is almost similar to the one in Chennai but with one slight difference: the MCA provides a bit more assistance to the bowlers, especially the spinners, and that goes well with the Super Kings.
