There is no doubt that with the absence of David Warner in the team, the rest of the players will have to up their game in order to lessen the effect of the former captain not playing. Former India test batsman, Aakash Chopra, meanwhile is of the opinion that Shakib Al Hasan could be the trump card of the team as he is the pillar that holds the middle overs together with the ball.

When he was asked about what the teams should do after winning the toss, he had a clear answer of bowling first, stating that both the teams have brilliant batsmen and should look to chase down the total put up against them.

"When you talk about their batting, [Sunrisers] have Shikhar Dhawan, Kane Williamson, Manish Pandey, Shakib Al Hasan, Deepak Hooda, Yusuf Pathan, Carlos Brathwaite... the list is endless. So both teams will try to chase the total down."

Speaking to CricketNext, Aakash Chopra then stated that the Test and T20I captain of Bangladesh could be the trump card of the game as his bowling ability will hold the middle overs for his team while his batting could solve the middle-order conundrum that the Hyderabad outfit have faced in the past.

"I am going with Shakib Al Hasan [as the trump card of the match] for this particular game. Of course he brings two disciplines to the table. I am not just looking at this game, I am looking at Sunrisers Hyderabad and their campaign... campaign minus David Warner. [A] Campaign this is now trying to address the middle muddle issue that they used to have in the past.

“He is your four over banker, comes and bowls at a decent pace, will be economical, [and] bowl the middle overs, so [he] will be the pillar that will keep the middle of the innings together with the ball.

"With the bat, you would expect him to do the same, plus maybe play the role of a finisher, so Shakib Al Hasan will be my pick [as the trump card] for this game.”

Shakib has been playing in the IPL since 2011 and was sparsely used by his then team Kolkata Knight Riders. This time, however, with the Sunrisers Hyderabad, his role will be much more important as among the foreign recruits, he seems to be the player that joins the team together to provide it with much-needed balance.
