Brendon McCullum makes history

Former New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum has made history by becoming only the second player to reach the tally of 9000 runs in T20. The dashing right-handed batsman smashed 45 runs from 27 balls against the Kolkata Knight Riders but saw his innings go in vain as the home side won the match with comfort in the end.
The highest run-getter in the format is Chris Gayle as the big West Indian has 11068 runs to his name from 316 innings with an average of 40.69 and a strike-rate of a mammoth 148.98. Despite the fact that McCullum is second, he is still over 2000 runs behind him.
Kieron Pollard is close behind the New Zealander with 8048 runs with Shoaib Malik and David Warner at four and five with 7728 and 7668 runs in T20.

McCullum is also second in the international T20 format with 2140 runs in 70 innings. Ahead of him is compatriot Martin Guptill with 2271 runs from 73 innings. Virat Kohli, however, will soon leapfrog them as he is currently at 1983 runs from only 53 innings.
The Royal Challengers Bangalore will be hoping that the blazing Baz strides close to the magical figure of 10000 runs before the curtains are drawn in the Indian Premier League for this season. If he can do that, then there is a good chance for the Bengaluru outfit to raise the title for the very first time.
