Sunil Narine taking a risk with IPL participation

Kolkata Knight Riders all-rounder Sunil Narine is taking a gamble by playing in KKR's first match against RCB as his bowling action hasn’t been cleared by the SRMC sports medicine faculty in Chennai.
The West Indian was reported for suspect action during his stint in the Pakistan Super League and was put on a warning list. While he has not yet been granted a clearance, he is set to take a huge risk by playing in the Indian Premier League.
Sources at SRMC told Indian Express that Sunil Narine is taking a gamble by playing in the Indian Premier League by not consulting experts.
The source told Indian Express: “As per IPL guidelines, any bowler who has been reported has to come to a BCCI-accredited facility to clear his name.”
“No one knows if his remodeled action is correct or not. If the umpires report him, the match referee will suspend him till he gets his action cleared. That process is extensive and will take a couple of weeks or more. Then the BCCI suspect action committee must clear him after reading the report. If reported, the player is as good as out of IPL.’’

The report also adds that neither KKR nor Narine have asked for an appointment from the SRMC to clear the West Indian’s action. In short, if Narine bowls later today and is found to be bowling with a wrong action, he risks being suspended from the tournament.
KKR assistant coach Simon Katich is, however, confident that his remodeled action is fine and should not be a problem in the tournament.
"Obviously there were some issues recently in the PSL where he was playing for Lahore," Katich said.
"But he’s since gone back to Trinidad and spent a lot of time with Carl Crowe, working on his action. Carl’s his coach, last few years he’s been working with him since he first got reported.
"He’s done a lot of hard work there, we’re pretty confident with where he’s at with the action at the moment, so hopefully we’ll see him back out there on Sunday."
Narine will take on Royal Challengers Bangalore when Kolkata Knight Riders face Virat Kohli’s team at the Eden Gardens later tonight.
