Zaheer Khan points finger at Mustafizur Rahman

The first game of the Indian Premier League began with a thrilling encounter between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings. After being on top for the first 37 overs of the game, Dwayne Bravo and Kedar Jadhav snatched the game away from them and won in the most thrilling of fashions.
The last over of the game was bowled by Mustafizur Rahman. With 7 runs required off 6 balls, the Fizz had to bowl against an injured Jadhav, but lost the battle after putting in three dot balls. Jadhav hit him for a six and a four and finished the match with a ball in hand.
Zaheer Khan, speaking in Cricbuzz’s post-match analysis, stated that with 28 runs being required of the last two overs, the match was in Mumbai’s hand, especially with Bumrah and Mustafizur – two of the best death over bowlers in the game – bowling them.
"You have the best two bowlers bowling in the last two overs - 28 required - with Bumrah bowling one and Mustafizur bowling one over. I think it was Mumbai's game all along. You have two of the best bowlers of death bowling together [so] two overs 28 doesn't matter.

“Everyone would have thought it was going to be Mumbai’s game, that it was going to be defended. But knowing that Jadhav was not fully fit, he had the hamstring issues, the thing which surprised me that [lack of] presence of mind from Fizz."
Zak was particularly surprised with Mustafizur’s field placement, believing that Jadhav’s injury meant that he was limited in his shots and Mustafizur should have used it to his advantage.
“He could have opted for fine leg back, third man back since Jadhav likes to use the pace of the ball. That was just an option, especially when he was not fully fit. And you see the buildup of the over, first 2-3 deliveries, he was looking to do that... probably that was the hit, he was looking to use the pace.
“He could have opted for the fine leg and things may have been different. Under pressure, it is always hard to think on your toes especially in this kind of scenario, you are so used to having mid-off [and] mid-on back, not really on the 30-yard circle, in these situations and that’s something which Mustafizur will have a look at in the game. He will go back in the same situation and think yeah I could have done that.”
Defending 7 runs off the last 6 balls at the Wankhede is never an easy task. However, given that the Fizz had to bowl against an injured batsman, he could have used it to his advantage. But this will be a learning curve for the young Bangladeshi and he would respond better to such a situation should it arise again.
