On the night of BPL t20 final, Christopher Henry Gayle reached the milestone of 1000 runs in this league. That makes him the only 2nd foreign cricketer to do so after his fellow West Indian teammate Marlon Samuels.

He also stands 2nd when it comes to highest strike rate (173) by a batsman in the league. Again, a West Indian, Carlos Brathwaite has made the 1st place his own with a strike rate of 185.

The Jamaican has been sensational tonight. Apart from becoming the first ever centurion among all of the five tournament finals Bangladesh Premier League has had, with his 146 runs' innings facing 69 deliveries, Gayle broke a number of records.

1.       The man wearing the Rangpur Riders’ jersey scored his 20th century in t20s, the most by any batsman to have ever played this format.

2.       Chris Gayle is now the 6th most run-scorer playing just 26 innings in the tournament since its inception. He played the least number of innings among the all-time top 10 run-scorers of the league.

3.       The gangnam style master also dominates the first place in the list of most runs in an individual innings in the BPL. His 146* of this game and 126* this year stands over the 122 runs' innings of the last edition of BPL scored by Sabbir Rahman.

4.       Smashing 13 of his 20 hundreds with a strike rate of 200 also makes him the only player to have achieved that feat. Also, he scored the most runs(128) hitting 4s and 6s in a single innings in BPL. The next 3 places also being dominated by Gayle, Sabbir Rahman stands 5th by scoring 90 runs hiiting fours and sixes in 2016.

5.       Gayle has made most number of tons(5) in the 5 seasons of his BPL career. All of his 5 centuries remain in the top 5 list for most number of sixes in an innings too. His 8 half centuries is also the 3rd highest after Tamim Iqbal and Marlon Samuel's.

6.       Chris has hit the most number of sixes in any format of the game to reach the 146 runs’ mark. With his 18 sixes, he has surpassed his previous record of the most number of sixes in a single t-20 innings. In 2013, he had smashed 17 sixes while scoring 175 off 66 for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL. In that match his team scored a massive total of 263, which still remains as the highest number of runs scored in any t20 innings.

7.       The Caribbean has reached the landmark of 11000 runs in the t20 format of the game tonight, while the second most run-getter hasn’t even scored 9000 runs.

8.       Breaking the previous record of 197 runs in the BPL, a partnership by Shahriar Nafees and Lou Vincent, Chris Gayle and Brandon McCulum built an unbeaten partnership of 201 runs.

Among personal records, the Calypso King had only scored two 50s in the 9 finals previously. Today is the first time that he has scored a 100 in a final.
