5 players who could win the best player of Bangladesh Premier League

And so the curtains are about to fall on the Bangladesh Premier League as Dhaka Dynamites take Mashrafe-led Rangpur Riders. The fans are as excited as they could be as the capital team are playing the most-supported team in the tournament.
Both Dhaka and Rangpur have found a place in the final after beating league-leaders Comilla Victorians. However, for the Riders, the task was a little harder since they finished 4th after a bad start and then beat Khulna Titans in the first play-off and Comilla Victorians in the next eliminator.
Some wonderful cricket has been played in this year’s IPL as the tournament was dominated by the bowlers with batsmen taking over in the final stages. And now, with the tournament nearing its grand ending, here are 5 players who could win the best player of the tournament…
#5 Mashrafe Mortaza
The Rangpur Riders captain has not led only his side to the final of the tournament with his leadership, but also with his abilities as a bowler and, at times, with his batting. The Bangladesh ODI captain has taken 14 wickets with the ball at an average of 24.71 and an economy rate of a mere 6.78.
He was also handy with the bat as he scored 131 runs at a strike-rate of a venomous 152.32. His average may not have been much, standing at 21.83, but for someone who is considered as a specialist bowler, those are pretty good numbers.
#4 Evin Lewis

When the Dhaka Dynamites announced their squad, it seemed like they were going to rage their way to the title. While the group stages may not have gone as smoothly as many thought, they still ended up 2nd and it was much thanks to Lewis.
The West Indian isn’t one of the biggest stars in the side and given the way Narine has batted of late, the West Indian mystery spinner was supposed to be the bomb from the opening slot. However, with 381 from 11 innings at an average of 38.1 and a strike-rate of a gargantuan 158.75, the West Indian became the pillar of Dhaka’s success.
#3 Mahmudullah Riyad
One the exterior, this might seem a like a soft choice at first. But a deeper look at the crevices will reveal a lot more than we can see. Mahmudullah’s team might not have made it to the final, but he was the strongest pillar – on whom the Titans rode on and reached as far as they did.
Riyad batted in 12 innings and scored 312 runs at an average of 28.36 and a strike-rate of a healthy 130. He was also handy with the ball as he got 6 wickets from 10 innings at a decent average of 26.33 and an economy rate of 7.18 – stats that show how good he has been in this season’s BPL.
#2 Ravi Bopara
The Englishman is a season campaigner in the T20 aspect of the game. He has played in so many T20 tournaments that it is hard to keep a count of. And he used is total experience to help Rangpur reach the final of the tournament.
Bopara’s form helped Rangpur finish fourth in the league. With a batting average of 40.55 and 365 runs from 13 innings, he is the second highest run getter in this year’s BPL. And as if that wasn’t enough, he has also shined with the ball with 7 wickets from 11 innings at an economy of 7.52, which might be a bit on the higher side, but his strike-rate of 16.2 makes up for that.
#1 Shakib al-Hasan
And the numero uno – the number 1 all-rounder in the world – Shakib al-Hasan is perhaps the de facto best player of the tournament. The man from Magura has led his Dhaka side to the final of the tournament as they are the favourites to land the title themselves.
With 21 wickets from 12 innings, he is the highest wicket-taker in the tournament. His economy-rate of 6.33 is a testament to the fact that he has been a very difficult bowler for the batsmen to face. It just doesn’t stop there as he has scored 185 runs from 12 innings with the bat.
Yes, it wasn’t a great outing with the bat, but with the final yet to be played, he could yet play an innings with the bat that could take his numbers to a better place.
