Mujeeb-ur-Rahman during SA20
Mumbai Indians have roped in Afghanistan spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman as a replacement for AM Ghazanfar for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. Ghazanfar, who has been sidelined due to a spine injury, will miss the entire tournament.

The 18-year-old had also been ruled out of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, after sustaining the injury during Afghanistan’s tour of Zimbabwe.

The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) confirmed that Ghazanfar suffered a fracture in the L4 vertebra, specifically in the left pars interarticularis, and will require a minimum of four months to recover while undergoing treatment.

Mujeeb, who was not part of Afghanistan’s Champions Trophy squad, recently participated in SA20 2025 and featured in the three-match T20I series against Zimbabwe.
The 23-year-old spinner was not considered for selection in other formats based on medical advice, as he continues to recover from a right phalanx sprain before resuming ODI cricket.
