Barishal secured a nine-wicket win and booked their place in the BPL final for the second consecutive year.

In Monday’s second match at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur, Chittagong were sent in to bat after losing the toss.

Their innings began disastrously, losing wickets in quick succession at 4, 14, 24, and 34 runs. Opener Khawaja Nafay (4), No. 3 batter Graham Clark (6), Mohammad Mithun (1), and Pakistani middle-order batsman Haider Ali (7) all fell cheaply.

However, U-19 World Cup-winning teammates Parvez Hossain Emon and Shamim put together a crucial 77-run partnership for the fifth wicket, reviving hopes of a strong total. At one stage, Chittagong looked set to score between 170 and 180.

But Parvez's dismissal for 36 off 36 balls, which included three fours and two sixes, disrupted their momentum.

Shamim continued to battle at one end alongside Khaled Ahmed. He scored a brilliant 79 off 47 balls, featuring nine fours and four sixes, before being dismissed in the 19th over.

Pakistani pacer Ali Khan turned the game in Barishal’s favor by taking four wickets in the same over, effectively halting Chattogram's progress.

He finished with exceptional figures of 5/24 in 4 overs, while Kyle Mayers contributed with 2 wickets for 27 runs in his 4 overs.

Chasing 150, Barishal started cautiously. Opener and captain Tamim, alongside Hridoy, put up a 55-run partnership in 8.4 overs, laying a solid foundation. From there, the result seemed inevitable. Hridoy and Malan easily guided Barishal to victory, sealing the win in 17.2 overs.

Tamim scored 29 runs off 26 balls, hitting four boundaries. Hridoy remained unbeaten on 78 off 55 balls, smashing eight fours and two sixes in his match-winning innings. English left-hander Malan contributed 33 runs off 21 balls, with two fours and a six.

Despite Hridoy’s superb innings, Pakistani pacer Ali Khan was named Player of the Match for his game-changing spell. While Chittagong fell short, their hopes of reaching the final are still alive.

They will face Khulna Tigers in the second Qualifier on February 5, with the match scheduled to begin at 6:30 PM.
