Just days after receiving the cheques, players who attempted to deposit them were informed by the bank that the payments had been rejected.

This incident comes shortly after Taskin Ahmed, captain of another team, humorously compared Mirpur's cricket pitches to bouncing cheques, warning of potential trouble for players. Unfortunately, the situation has turned into a harsh reality for Rajshahi cricketers.

A Rajshahi player, speaking to Cricfrenzy on condition of anonymity, expressed his frustration.

"Brother, the cheques have bounced again. Everyone’s checks have been rejected. We don’t understand what the owners are doing to us. Have you seen those Hindi movies? ‘Tarikh pe tarikh, tarikh pe tarikh’ (date after date)! That’s what our situation feels like. We’ll have a meeting today to decide our next steps. This cannot go on."

Rajshahi has completed all their group-stage matches in the tournament, winning six out of twelve games and keeping their playoff hopes alive. However, the financial uncertainty has left players unsure about their next move during the week-long break before the playoffs.

The player expressed concern about leaving the team or their hotel, fearing they might lose track of the team management.

"We’re not in a good place. This is not how things should be. If we leave the team or the hotel, what if the owners disappear? We’re already struggling to find them."

The players are now contemplating whether to participate in the upcoming matches without receiving their dues.

"Before deciding whether to play the next match, we need to get paid. What if we play and still don’t get the money? How will this work?"

Another Rajshahi player, speaking anonymously to Cricfrenzy, said they still own 18 days of daily allowances (DA).

"We were told we had until the 2nd to withdraw money from the checks, but they’ve already bounced today. It seems the owner has no intention of paying us. We’re still owed 18 days of daily allowances (DA). The current owner likely knew the checks would bounce; that’s why he gave them. He’s not someone who will pay us."

Two days ago, BCB official Mahbub Anam assured that the payment issues would be resolved within 48 hours. However, with no resolution in sight, Rajshahi players have lost faith in the franchise owners and are now looking to the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) for support.

"Our only hope now is the BCB. If they take over the team’s management, we can have some peace of mind. If the team comes under BCB’s control, we’ll play. Otherwise, there’s no question of playing."
