The issue came to a head on Sunday when Durbar Rajshahi’s foreign players refused to take the field due to unpaid wages, marking the first time in BPL history that a team played without overseas players.

Adding to the turmoil, Chittagong Kings’ owner Samir Kader Chowdhury admitted to the media that local player Parvez Hossain had not been paid. These incidents have drawn more attention than the cricket itself.
Speaking after Barishal’s five-wicket win over Khulna Tigers, where Malan was named Player of the Match for his 63 off 37 balls, the 37-year-old expressed relief that his team had no such issues.
“I can only comment on my team. Our franchise has been fantastic. Wherever you play, you want the basics to be right. Our job is to play, and it’s someone else’s job to ensure we’re paid. That’s why we play in these leagues,” Malan said during the post-match press conference.
Taskin's fear turns into harsh reality: The cheque bounced
22 hrs agoWhen asked about the broader payment problems in the league, Malan suggested a straightforward fix: “I hope this doesn’t happen again. It’s very easy to control. If you have the money, you take a team. If you don’t, you don’t. It’s as simple as that. So far, we’ve had no issues, and I hope it stays that way.”
Khulna Tigers’ Australian batter William Bosisto, who was also present during the press conference, echoed Malan’s sentiments. Bosisto praised his franchise but expressed disappointment over issues in other teams.
“So far, I’ve received everything as per my contract. I’ve heard about problems in other teams, and it’s definitely disappointing. As players, our job is to perform and give our best. It’s the owner’s responsibility to honor the agreements. Unfortunately, that’s not happening everywhere, but Khulna has been fantastic,” Bosisto said.
