The situation escalated during their dramatic 2-run victory against Rangpur Riders, as the team had to field an all-domestic lineup due to six foreign players refusing to leave the hotel over unpaid salaries.

After the match, Rajshahi captain Taskin Ahmed addressed the issue, shedding light on the absence of the overseas players.

"The management knocked on their doors with the payment checks, but they didn’t open. Everyone was worried. The board then called and assured us that if the checks bounced, the board would pay. We received the checks today, but if they bounce like this wicket, we won’t get the money tomorrow either. If the management pays, the foreign players might join us tomorrow," Taskin explained.

The situation highlights the ongoing turmoil within the Rajshahi franchise, which has already faced criticism for canceling practice sessions in Chattogram earlier in the season.

BCB Director Iftekhar Rahman Mithu also expressed his disappointment over the incident.

"It’s unfortunate and unacceptable. What’s happening with this team is regrettable. The issue has been discussed in board meetings, and we are working to identify and resolve the problems. But new issues keep arising, even as the tournament nears its conclusion," he told the media.

Despite the win, Rajshahi remains under scrutiny, with their financial and operational challenges casting a shadow over their BPL campaign.
