World Cup-winning Indian pacer Munaf Patel has attempted to clear his name of match-fixing allegations that have surfaced over the Rajputana Premier League. Patel, who was one of India’s unsung heroes in the 2011 World Cup, denied the claims against him and stressed that he doesn’t know what is happening.

Earlier, there were reports of an unnamed Indian player being involved with match-fixing syndicate organized Rajputana Premier League that is being investigated by Rajasthan Police’s CID. And now Munaf Patel, who was apparently seen on the sidelines during a match of the tournament, has been scrutinised over his supposed presence. `

"I don't know why this kind of news is surfacing now after a year. I have never been questioned relating to the league earlier. I have no idea what is going on," Patel told to ANI.

"I did go in the opening ceremony of the event along with two other people. I was there on the field for over four hours. I also answered a few questions related to promotion of cricket."

Munaf Patel also stated that he was there due to the invitation of Mohammed Aslam, who is a former Ranji player and the organiser of the much-maligned RPL. Although there is no evidence to suggest that Munaf Patel was involved in wrongdoing, he becomes the second player from India’s World Cup winning squad of 2011 to have his name being mixed with match-fixing.

The other one, Sreesanth, is still facing cricket exile from the BCCI despite being cleared off the charges.
