Steven Smith steps down from Rajasthan Royal captaincy

When the Indian Premier League auctions were concluded, Rajasthan Royals announced that Steven Smith would be leading them in the season. That, however, took a major hit after the Australia captain admitted to playing a role in the ball-tampering issue against the Proteas.
As a result, the Australian has stepped down from the captaincy and Ajinkya Rahane has been named as the new captain of the team from Jaipur. There is also a good chance that Smith could be removed from the captaincy of the Australian cricket team.
Meanwhile, no word has come out of the Sunrisers Hyderabad camp as David Warner also faces scrutiny over his hand in the saga. While the Hyderabad outfit may have stayed mum, they may also have to strip Warner off the leadership role, especially after what Rajasthan Royals did.

That will, however, be harder as it was under his stewardship that the Sunrisers Hyderabad won the Indian Premier League in 2016.
