The 42nd encounter in the ongoing DPL resulted in Kalabagan Krira Chakra defeating Agrani Bank Cricket Club by 5 wickets. Two centuries from two top-order batsmen of Kalabagan saw them successfully chase down a target of 253 runs with 8 balls remaining.

Batting first, the Agrani Bank openers shared a 128-run stand. Azmir Ahmed posted 58 runs and Shahriar Nafees was just one run short of his century before getting dismissed. The rest of the batsmen could not manage to go past 20 runs as Agrani Bank ended up registering 252 runs losing 9 wickets.

While chasing down the total, Tasmanul Haque’s 106-run knock alongside Mohammad Ashraful’s unbeaten innings of 102 runs was proven enough to cruise the team to victory despite a collapse in the middle-order. Kalabagan’s Akbar-ur Rahman was the highest wicket-taker in the math with 3 scalps in his bag.

The previous match also saw another successful chase in the match between Brothers Union and Khelaghar Samaj Kallyan Samity with the latter winning the clash by 3 wickets.

Brother Union were all-out for a paltry 187 runs and could have been packed for a smaller total if Alok Kapali and Sohrawardi Shuvo did not string in a 51-run stand in the 6th wicket. Alok made 66 runs and Shuvo remained unbeaten on 33 while no other batsman could manage enough runs to meet the expectations.

With a 67-run opening partnership between Sadikur Rahman(35) and Rafsan AL Mahmud(30), Khelagahar were seeming to be quite at ease but lost four quick wickets while adding the next 32 runs. However, another 60-run stand between Moinul and Al Menaria took the team to a safer position.

Menaria picked up a half-century and was out on 55 runs after Moinul got dismissed scoring 22 runs. Following these exits, Khelaghar finally reached the target with 4 balls remaining. Khelaghar’s Hasan Mahmud bagged 3 wickets in the 1st innings, more than any other bowler in the match.

In the 40th match on Sunday, Legends of Rupganj scored 268 runs losing 3 wickets while batting and took 9 wickets while bowling but failed to see the outcome in their favor as Shinepukur won the match by a wicket.

A 98-run stand in the 2nd wicket and another 97-run partnership in the next wicket made the batting part quite comfortable for Rupganj. Opener Mohammad Naim made 93 runs and then Parvez Rasool played an unbeaten innings of 88 runs from 66 deliveries to lift the total past 250 runs.

In reply to Rupganj’s 268, Shinepukur’s opening batsman Shadman Islam clubbed 95 runs and also shared a 121-run partnership with Uday Kaul who made 61 runs.

Afif Hossain’s innings of 29 runs and Shuvagoto Hom’s contribution of 18 runs were sustained by Saifuddin’s innings of 19 runs who got out with the scores leveled in the second-last ball of the innings.

Rupganj’s Mohammad Shahid was the highest wicket-taker in the match with 3 scalps but failed to defend their total in the end.
