Multan chase down Quetta with ease

Multan Sultans face Quetta Gladiators in the 13th match of the ongoing PSL. Multan did not get any results yesterday [Friday] as their game could not be played due to the interruption of rain. Each of the teams have won two out of their four matches so far in the tournament.

Winning the toss, Multan decided to bowl first. Quetta included batting all-rounder Mahmudullah Riyad in their team and the Bangladesh player will not be playing after this match as he has to travel Sri Lanka due to his national duty.

Quetta could not meet the expectations while batting and frequently kept losing wickets. With their skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed playing the highest individual innings of 30 runs for the team, a total of three batsmen went past 10 runs. Shane Watson posted 19 runs and Mahmudullah made 15 runs as Multan never allowed the Gladiators to initiate a resurgence.

While Sohail Tanvir, Junaid Khan, and Mohammad Irfan strangled the top & the middle-order batting line-up, Imran Tahir wiped out the tail with a hat-trick. Both he and Sohail took 3 wickets each whereas Junaid took 2 scalps and Irfan took 1 to restrict Quetta to a puny total of 102 runs.

Multan did not face any difficulties chasing down the total as the openers presented a 66-run partnership in the beginning. Ahmed Shehzad returned to the pavilion scoring 29 runs after Hasan Khan dismissed him.

Kumar Sangakkara picked up a well-deserved half-century and registered a 51-run innings by remaining unbeaten. Shoaib Maqsood also not out as Multan overcame the target with 20 balls remaining.
