Mohammedan Sporting Club and Prime Doleshwar Sporting Club faced each other in the 38th clash of DPL 2018. Batting first, Mohammedan registered a total of 286 runs losing all of their wickets.

Things were not very pleasant for the Mohammedan side as they lost four wickets before reaching 90 runs, but then a crucial 108-run stand between Shamsur Rahman and Raqibul Hasan saw the team eyeing a good total. Opener Jony Talukder had also made an important contribution of 37 runs when the team kept losing wickets in the beginning.

Mohammedan skipper Shamsur got out scoring 75 runs but Raqibul Hasan still had enough to offer to his team and stitched another 50-run partnership with Bipul Sharma.

Raqibul returned to the pavilion clubbing 72 runs and Bipul picked up a splendid half-century and made 53 runs off 31 before leaving the crease. The rest of the batsmen could not manage to score much as the three half-centurions’ powered the team to pose a big total.

Farhad Reza, who initiated the early collapse of Mohammedan’s line-up ended up bagging 3 wickets. Mamun Hossain took 2 scalps while Arafat Sunny and Mohammad Arafat picked up a wicket each.

Not all the batsmen contribute equally and one or two of them have to settle things down for the team in a single match; such has been the case with this season's DPL. And Prime Doleshwar's game on Friday was also no different.

While the other top & middle-order batsmen failed to collect enough runs, Liton Das picked up a magnificent century and returned to the hut scoring 129 runs off 122 deliveries. Farhad Hossain also played a crucial knock of 52 runs.

Following the exits of these two important exits, someone had to stand firm in order to ensure the victory for Prime Doleshwar and Zoaib Khan nearly had the job done with his innings of 24 off 19 but Mohammad Azim dismissed Mohammad Arafat and then Zoaib in the first two balls of the last over and offered a nail-biting end to a thrilling match.

Among the Mohammedan bowlers, Qazi Onik picked up 3 wickets. Mohammad Azim took 6 wickets, including 2 wickets in the last over to produce the last-minute drama which turned things around and secured a tie for Mohammedan.

Score:

Mohammedan – 286/10 (49.5)
Prime Doleshwar - 286/9 (50 overs)
