Shykat's ton settles Sheikh Jamal victory


Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club faced Gazi Group Cricketers in the 37th match of the ongoing DPL. Batting first, Sheikh Jamal posted 265 runs for 8 wickets in 50 overs.
Despite a poor batting display from the whole team, Shykat Ali rescued Sheikh Jamal’s innings by picking up a magnificent hundred. He along with his opening partner Hasanuzzaman built an 86-run opening partnership. Hasan left scoring 45 runs but Shykat kept fighting on as Sheikh Jamal experienced a little collapse in the line-up.
However, Sohag Gazi and Elias Sunny were good enough to provide Shykat with proper support. Shykat retired hurt after scoring 115 runs but Gazi and Sunny kept the score ticking and made 42 and 33 runs, respectively. No other batsman could go reach the double-digits as Sheikh Jamal ended up with a satisfying total.

Kamrul Islam and Nayeem Hasan took 2 wickets each for Gazi Group whereas Mahedi Hasan and Gurkeerat Singh picked up a wicket apiece.
While chasing the target of 266 runs, Gazi Group stumbled miserably and ended up scoring only 170 runs losing all of their wickets. Gurkeerat Singh came up with the highest individual innings for Gazi Group as he made 67 runs. Except for another 36-run knock from Mahedi Hasan, no batsmen overcame the mark of 20 runs as the team fell victim to a 95-run defeat.
Elias and Sohag were good with their bowling as well and bagged 2 wickets each. Sajedul Islam and Kazi Kamrul Islam also took 2 scalps apiece and Robiul Haque scalped one.
