Clinical Islamabad strangle Multan batting line-up

After a brief delay due to rain, the clash between Islamabad United and Multan Sultans started with the latter being sent to bat first. Islamabad justified their decision by bowling brilliantly and restricting the opponent to a substandard total of 113 runs.
United skipper Rumman Raees, with his splendid bowling spells, scalped three wickets. Andre Russell and Mohammad Sami bagged two wickets each while Steven Finn took one wicket.
Except for a 54-run partnership between Shoaib Malik and Kieron Pollard, Multan never stood a chance against the clinical bowling attack of the Islamabad-based franchise. Malik scored 35 runs while Pollard posted 28 runs and both of them eventually got dismissed by Russell. Except for another 11-run innings from Ahmed Shahzad, no batsmen went past 10 runs in the 1st innings.
