Taijul & Enamul frustrate opponents to save Mohammedan

Mohammedan Sporting Club won the toss and elected to bowl first—and what a decision it turned out to be. After bowling for 7 overs, they not only gave away 14 runs only, but took three wickets in the process.

Indeed, both Taijul Islam and Bipul Sharma stunned the Prime Bank batsmen with their outstanding bowling. The former, especially, seems to be like the all-consuming fire that appears at the end of time. Already taking three wickets in his 6 overs, he gave away only 18 runs.

Bipul Sharma, on the other end, took two wickets to give away only 9 runs in four overs. Among Prime Bank batters, only Al-Amin, Ariful Haque, and Delwar Hossain could reach double figures—but that is all that was required to get them to decent total.

Indeed, when everything pointed towards humiliation, Ariful Haque and Al-Amin saved them from the abyss. While Ariful Haque scored 87, Al-Amin scored a fantastic 110 from 126 balls to get the total score to 259.

They were also helped by a brilliant 14-ball cameo from Delwar Hossain, who scored 25 runs in that time.

Apart from Bipul Sharma and Taijul Islam, Subashis Roy and Qazi Onik were also among the wickets as they took one and two wickets respectively.

Mohammedan successfully chased down the target of 260 runs successfully, thanks to two good innings from opener Rony Talukder, and  Raqibul Hasan who scored 60 and 64 runs, respectively.

However, the crucial part was played by Taijul Islam and Enamul Haque Jr. who shared an unbeaten 55-run stand in the 7th wicket. Both were not out on 30-odd runs each to ensure their victory. Other top & middle-order batsmen failed to impress with the bat as nobody could go past 25 runs.

For Prime Bank, Delwar Hossain and Rubel Hossain bagged 2 wickets each. Yusuf Pathan, Ariful Haque, and Monir Hossain also took a wicket apiece.

Score:

Prime Bank Cricket Club - 259/9 (50 overs)
Mohammedan Sporting Club - 260/7 (48.5 overs)
Mohammedan won by 3 wickets
