Afif with a solid bowling display to dispatch Khelaghar

The match started with Khelagar winning the toss and
choosing to bowl first. It turned out to be a great decision as their batsmen
did really well. While opener Shadman Islam went out early after making 14 runs
off 16 balls, Sabbir Hossain did a better job to score 34 from 48 balls.
Towhid Hridoy was the next to go, but even he scored 24 from
36 balls before being bundled up by Menaria. Uday Kaul, meanwhile, was a menace
for the Khelaghar bowlers. Making his first century in the tournament, he finished
with 137 from 136 balls.
Highly-rated youngster Afif Hossain also supported him
incredibly well, batting at a good pace to make 43 in as many balls. The rest
of the batsmen couldn’t amount to much, but Kaul and Afif’s innings was enough
to take Shinepukur to 294/7 after 50 overs.
Mohammad Saddam and Moinul Islam picked 2 scalps each while
Rafsan Al Mahmud, AL Menaria and Robiul Islam Robi took 1 wicket each.
In response, Khelaghar took a hit when Robiul Islam got out
for a duck, but they made a good comeback with the help of Rafsan Al Mahmud’s
62 runs. Mahidul Islam got a start, but could only conjure 20 runs. Amit
Majumder made a slow-paced 43 of 74 balls with Nazimuddin, AL Menaria and
Moinul Islam being the other players to reach the double digits figure with 24,
18 and 17.

The rest of the card just fell without a fight as Khelaghar
bundled up for 206 in 45.4 overs. Raihan Uddin took 3 wickets, Afif Hossain and
Saifuddin took 2 each and Naeem Islam Jnr took 1 wicket.
Scores:
Shinepukur Cricket Club – 294/7 after 50 overs.
