The stars of the U19 World Cup have only one intention: to
play for the national team. As a result, the Bangladeshi starlets are using the
Dhaka Premier League as a means to push themselves to the biggest stage.
And today, against Agrani Bank, someone from the U19 did
just that.
After winning the toss and electing to bat first, Shinepukur
lost their opener Shadman Islam for a duck. Sabbir Hossain left soon, after
making just 10 runs. And then came the superb partnership from Uday Kaul and
Towhid Hridoy.
They powered the score to 161 before Kaul was adjudged LBW
of Abdur Razzak’s bowling. He made 78 from 95 balls before returning to the
pavilion.
Meanwhile, on the other end, Hridoy completed a brilliant
hundred, finishing with 122 from only 125 balls. Towhid Tareq and Minhaz Khan scored 22 and 12 each to
support the 17 year-old. With the help of his magnificent innings, Shinepukur
forged 264 runs.

For the Agrani bowlers, Abdur Razzak took 3 wickets while
Shafiul Islam took a couple of scalps and Shahbaz Chouhan took one wicket.
In response, Agrani openers Shahriar Nafees and Azmir Ahmed
got them off to brilliant start to take the team to 87, before Nafees returned
to the pavilion after making 35 from 40 balls. Azmir Ahmed was out soon after, making
51 from 34 balls.
Saimun Ahmed, Jahid Javed and Rafatullah Mohmand were the
next to go as Agrani were left in some trouble at that point. Dhiman Ghosh and
Salman Hossain, however, steadied the ship of their team and took them to the
coast of victory.
Dhiman scored 85* and Salman Hossain conjured 65* runs to
win the game for Agrani.
