Travis Heads Adelaide to victory

The race between Perth Scorcher and Adelaide
Strikers for the top spot still continues as Adelaide defeated Melbourne Stars
in the Big Bash League. Melbourne Stars suffered their fifth consecutive defeat
to carry on with the humiliating campaign they are going through in this
season.
Winning the toss Melbourne decided to bat first and
their batting line-up showed no sign of improvement as they registered a total
of 151 on the scoreboard losing 6 wickets. Adelaide chased the target with ease
and won by 8 wickets with 8 balls remaining.
A 39-run knock from the opener Marcus Stoinis and
an innings of 60 runs from Glenn Maxwell were the only two noteworthy innings
from the Melbourne side. Each of the five Adelaide bowlers bagged a wicket each
in the 1st innings.
While batting, Adelaide Strikers lost their first
wicket as Maxwell dismissed Jake Weatherald on 18 runs. Strikers' skipper
Travis Head picked up a well-deserved half-century and made 53 runs before
Stoinis scalped his wicket.

Another opener Alex Carey stayed on the pitch
untill the very end by remaining not out on 59 runs. Colin Ingram was also
unbeaten on 15 runs to ensure the victory for his side.
Adelaide Strikers will take on Perth Scorchers in their next match on 13 th January. On the other hand, Melbourne Stars will face their crosstown rivals on 12th January.
