Another T20 league in Bangladesh

Yes, folks, you read that right. It has only been a few days
since the mania surrounding the Bangladesh Premier League has ended and now
there are talks of another T20 league happening among the Premier League
players of the country.
The chairman of the CCDM, the domestic section of the
Bangladesh cricket news, Kazi Inam Ahmed, stressed that the competition will
have 7-8 teams from the Premier League—the best ones—in order to increase the
competitiveness within the circuit.
“We have decided to arrange a T20 league containing top
seven to eight teams of the Premier League. The thought of taking eight teams
came for increasing the competitiveness of the competition.”

“Generally it is seen that the best six teams fight for the
next round and the next three usually compete to avoid the relegation. There is
nothing left for the number seven and eight teams. When best eight teams of the
premier league will have the chance, the competitiveness will surely increase a
lot,” he added.
While there are more than one option about the possible
venue of the tournament, Kazi Inam enthused that the initial phase, at least,
will happen on the home of cricket in the country: the Shere Bangla Stadium in
Mirpur.
“We want to start the tournament in the home of cricket,
Mirpur Shere Bangla National Stadium. Teams will play around two groups or in
knock out basis. The attraction of the tournament will surely increase if we
could manage the television broadcast.”
Since a lot of complaints have aroused about having 5 foreign
players in the starting XI of teams in the Bangladesh Premier League, with them
claiming that it hampers the opportunities for the local players, this
tournament could provide something that even the BPL couldn’t: much more
chances and exposure top talented youngsters.
