Former national selector Faruk Ahmed on Thursday slammed the selection policy as he believes it is driven on trial and error basis.

In the recent past the selection policy of the national selectors raised quite a few eyebrows largely due to the fact they were seemed to be inconsistent.

The latest example of their inconsistency was proved after the second Twenty20 internationals in the ongoing tri-nation when they made wholesale changes after losing their game against Afghanistan.

Bangladesh drafted in uncapped Aminul Islam and Nazmul Hossain while Rubel Hossain and Shafiul Islam made a comeback while they dropped Soumya Sarkar, Sheikh Mehedy Hasan and Yasin Arafat Mishu.’It’s like we are forming the team or trial and error basis,’’Faruk told reporters on at the team hotel on Thursday.’A team can have bad performance or good performance that quite natural. But at that time we have to look at the process of the team. Some question have been raised about team selection and it is quite natural,’’ he said.

‘’Everybody cannot perform .but we are worried is the process of working.I  feel selection responsibility should be given to someone who can be accountable .in recent times we are not getting any example of an explanation of whom  we are selecting or whom we are left out . There is some restlessness when team loses. As we are not following the right process of selection we get restlessness. We get panic if we lose one or two matches,’’ he said.

‘’ We should plan one year for the next T20 World Cup and in order to do so we have show some kind of stability,’’ he said.

Faruk said that the two tier selection process is having a negative impact and it is high time BCB should make their selection policy more transparent.

‘’There is lot of selector in the board. There is s director, selector, manager selector and operation selector and I think there is more than five to seven selectors,’’ he said.’When the team does well everybody will take credit and when it does not everyone will start blaming each other,’’ he said adding that regular chopping have a negative impact on the team.

‘’years but we don’t know who is our number six cricketer. We have to be patient,’’ he said.

‘’Some players have initial success like Mustafizur .other players take time. Do not know how many players select the team. There is lot of selector in the team. young cricketers need selectors backing. Nowadays some player get picked for one game and next day he is out, that changes the whole balance of the team. We have to overcome from this process,’’ he concluded.
