Australia batsman Shaun Marsh is set to undergo scans following a shoulder injury while playing for Glamorgan on Sunday. The left-handed batsman was inflicted with the injury when he made a dive to stop the ball hitting the fence.

As a result, he injured his left shoulder and immediately signaled his discomfort to the dressing room, after which he was assisted on the field. Scans will be done on his left shoulder on Monday.

"Shaun's a tough guy, so it's certainly not a bruise the way he walked off holding his shoulder," said Glamorgan coach Robert Croft.

"So we'll have to wait and see, but we hope the scan will be favourable to us."

This news comes at a very bad time for Cricket Australia, who, on top of banning Steve Smith, David Warner (for one year, each) and Cameron Bancroft (for 9 months), have also lost prime pacers Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood to injuries in the last few months.

Shaun Marsh had a brilliant summer in the Ashes as he scored two crucial centuries for the Baggie Green. In the absence of the banned trio, the importance of Shaun Marsh has significantly increased and they would be hoping that he returns to fitness prior to Australia’s tour of UAE where they play against Pakistan in October.
