Former Australia quick Doug Bollinger announced his retirement from all forms of cricket on Monday. The fast-bowler featured in 60 international games for the Kangaroos, including 12 Tests. He debuted against South Africa in 2009 and played his last game for Australia against the same opponents in 2014.

The 36-year-old has scalped 50 wickets in Tests and another 71 wickets in limited-over formats for Australia. Doug also played for Chennai Super Kings for three seasons in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

In a statement-release, Bollinger said, “It’s been a great ride. I met so many wonderful people and achieved the ultimate ambition of playing Test cricket for Australia.

“I was pretty raw and they gave me a really good chance at cricket. My first captain for NSW was Steve Waugh, which was unbelievable. I played under some great captains and players for NSW and Australia including Steve, Michael Clarke, and Ricky Ponting. To play for 15 or 16 seasons with the SCG as my home ground has been amazing.”

“Now it’s time for the next stage of my life with my wife Tegan and my children Skye and Liam. I couldn’t have achieved everything I have without them,” he added.

‘Doug The Rug’ played in the New South Wales (NSW) for 16 years. His tally of 290 wickets for NSW stands behind only Geoff Lawson and Mike Whitney. He bagged a total of 411 wickets in first-class cricket, and 203 wickets in list-A cricket while playing for various franchises.
