MS Dhoni wins 3rd highest civilian award in India


On Thursday the former India captain MS Dhoni was conferred with the prestigious Padma Bhushan award alongside multiple world champion cueist Pankaj Advani. The Padma Bhushan award is the country’s third highest civilian award.
Dhoni has been the recipient of many awards, including the ICC ODI Player of the Year award in 2008 and 2009 as he became the first player to win the award twice. He also won the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award in 2007 and the Padma Shri, India's fourth highest civilian honor in 2009.

The keeper-batsman has led India to the ICC ODI World Cup triumph in 2011 as well as the inaugural T20 World Cup success in 2007. Considered as the country’s most successful captain, the 36-year-old also help the team gain the no.1 spot in ICC Test rankings in December 2009.
The Padma Bhushan award is given for distinguished service of a high order. With this award, former India captain Dhoni joins the elite club comprising of Sachin Tendulkar, Kapil Dev, Sunil Gavaskar and Lala Amarnath.
