Nabi takes the Stars by storm to claim top spot


Today Melbourne Renegades regained the top spot by defeating
Melbourne stars in the 19th clash of the Big Bash League. Melbourne
Stars remain at the bottom of the table as they have lost all four matches in
this season so far.
Winning the toss, Renegades decided to field first.
Melbourne Stars registered a total of 157 runs losing 4 wickets. Their opener Luke
Wright scored 12 runs before giving his wicket to DJ Bravo. Another opener Ben
Dunk made 47 runs. His wicket was picked up by Wildermuth.
Kevin Pietersen played an innings of 47 runs before getting
out by Mohammad Nabi. Glenn Mmaxwell clubbed 33 runs and was bowled out by Kane
Richardson. Marcus Stoinis remained unbeaten on 24 runs to finish off their
innings.
While chasing the target, Aaron Finch gave his team a
beautiful start by smashing 23 runs in the very second over of the match.
Although his opening partner, Marcus Harris got out early scoring 8 runs, Finch
completed 43 runs before returning to the pavilion.
Cameron White came at no. 3 and remained on the pitch till
the end of the match playing a sensible innings of 35 runs. Mohammad Nabi was
promoted to no. 4 and the Afghan proved that decision right by picking up a
half-century.
Nabi played a magnificent innings of 52 off 30 before
Hastings scalped his wicket. The all-rounder was later awarded the Man of the
Match after the game.

Brad Hodge got out early scoring 4 runs but DJ Bravo was not
out on 6 runs till his team clinched the victory. Renegades concluded their
innings in just 17.5 overs to lead the points table.
Melbourne Rengades will face the mighty Perth Scorchers on 8th January at WACA and Stars will take on Adelaide Strikers on the following day in Adelaide.
