Brendan Doggett impresses in Brisbane

Today Perth Scorchers have finally tasted defeat in their match against Brisbane Heat. Brisbane won the 18th match of the league by 49 runs. They are leading the table after winning 4 out of their 6 matches.
Perth Scorchers chose to field first following the toss-win. Brisbane put up a fine display in the 1st innings and posted 191 runs losing 6 wickets.
Chris Lynn, being the opener for Heat, registered 39 runs before getting out by Wiley. Another opener of the side―Brandon McCullum―made 32 runs before leaving the pitch following a delivery from Joel Paris. Ashton Agar scalped the wicket of Sam Heazzlett on 11 runs.
Joe Burns had scored 36 runs before Andrew Tye trapped him lbw. Ben Cutting clubbed 46 runs off 20 and got dimissed by Jhye Richardson. Richardson got the wicket of Alex Ross as well.

While chasing the big target, Perth seemed to be a little bit out of their real character and kept losing wickets in quick succession. As a result, the team was all out with an over still to be bowled. Scorchers registered a total of 142 runs and lost the match by a big margin of 49 runs. This defeat saw them lose the top spot due to run rate.
Except for Ashton Agar, nobody played a decent innings. Agar scored 31 runs and David Wiley played a rather slow innings of 25 runs.
Brendan Dogget played a pivotal role for Brisbane and took a five wicket-haul. He was declared Man of the Match after the game. Mark Steketee also bagged 3 wickets while Yasir Shah and Mitchell Swepson took a wicket each.
Perth Scorchers will take on Melbourne Renegades on 8th January. Brisbane Heat, on the other hand, will face Hobart Hurricanes on 10th instant.
