Buttler-hurricane hits Hobart
Today, in the 11th encounter of the Big Bash League, Sydney Thunder defeated Hobart Hurricanes by 57 runs in Launceston. Hobart have lost both of their 2 matches this season, while Sydney have played 4 matches and won 2 of those.
Hobart won the toss and decided to bowl first. Sydney posted a total of 166 runs losing 5 wickets in the 1st innings.
Thunder's opener Kurtis Patterson was dismissed by Jofra Archer at 15. Another opener, Jos Buttler then built a partnership of 95 runs off 65 balls along with Shane Watson.
Sydney Thunder were on the verge of achieving a bigger score as Buttler hit four maximums in the 12th over. But the English batsman was bowled out by Clive Rose making 67 runs. Before returning to the pavilion, the keeper-batsman had done his job and was awarded the Man of the Match after the game. Following his departure, Shane Watson was run out scoring 41 runs.
Callum Ferguson remained unbeaten on 24, while another run out saw Ryan Gibson leaving the pitch on 14 runs. Before Ryan, Ben Rohrer was trapped lbw by Clive Rose.
While chasing down the 167-run target, Hobart kept losing wicket at regular intervals and were all out registering 109 runs in 19.3 overs. All the five bowlers of Sydney bagged 2 wickets each.
Alex Doolan played the highest individual innings of 34 runs for his team. Being the 2nd highest from the Hurricanes, another unbeaten knock of 25 runs from Jofra Archer really shows how their batsmen struggled to score runs against the Thunder.
Both Sydney Thunder and Hobart Hurricanes are still in the bottom half of the table after today's match. These two teams will face-off each other again in their next match on 1st January.
