Johnson helps Perth to lead the BBL standings


Today, in the Big Bash League, Perth Scorchers defeated the Melbourne Renegades by 7 wickets at Dockland Stadium in Melbourne. Although the Ashes got interrupted due to rain earlier in the day, the 10th clash of the league was not affected, thanks to the roof of the closed ground.
Winning the toss, Perth opted to field first. Before this clash, both Scorchers and Renegades were unbeaten playing two matches each.
Melbourne registered a total of 130 runs losing 9 wickets. Among their batsmen, opener Marcus Harris scored 32 runs before he was trapped lbw by Ashton Agar.
Tom Cooper made 34 runs and was bowled out by Andrew Tye. No other knock went past 20 runs as the Renegades kept losing wicket at regular intervals.

Both Jhye Richardson and David Willey picked up a wicket, while Mitchell Johnson and Andrew Tye bagged 3 wickets each. Mitchell's spell of 4-1-13-3 was a match defining one as it had collapsed the top-order of the batting team.
Perth Scorchers lost 7 wickets on their way to making 133 runs in 19 overs. David Willey and Michael Klinger offered them a good start by building a 58 runs' opening partnerhip. David Willey got bowled out by Hogg making 31 runs.
Klinger scored 37 runs before getting dismissed by Nabi. Brad Hogg also picked up the wicket of Ashton Agar. The batsman scored 13 runs before leaving the pitch.
Cartwright made 4 runs before giving a catch to Tom Cooper at long-on. He got out while trying to smash a delivery from Wildermuth. Scorchers' skipper Adam Voges was run out. He made 24 runs before returning to the pavilion.
Anothe run out saw Jhye Richardson leave the ground at 2 runs. Keeper-batsman Josh Inglis was bowled out by Bravo after scoring 7 runs.
Ashton Turner remained unbeaten at 11 runs and ensured Perth's triumph over Melbourne. Perth Scorcher now stand 1st in the points table winning all 3 matches they have played.
Perth Scorchers will face the Sydney Sixers in their next game in Perth on 1st January. Two days later, Melbourne Renegades will be playing against the same opponent in Geelong.
