Carey's knock earns top spot for Adelaide


Sydney Sixers came very close to their 1st win in this season in the Big Bash League. Adelaide Strikers won the clash by 6 runs to claim the 1st spot in the points table.
Sixers' bowling did not work much as Adelaide Strikers made 167 runs losing 3 wickets. Their opener Alex Carey scored 83 runs off 59 balls and remained unbeaten.
Another opener, Jake Weatherald, got out for a duck. Dwarshuis got Jake's wicket and later bagged the wicket of Ingram as well. Colin Ingram scored 15 runs before departing.
Adelaide skipper Travis scored 29 runs before Billings stumped him following a delivery by Botha. Jonathan Wells remained not out scoring 33 runs.

Four of the Adelaide bowlers got a brace each as Sydney Sixers registered 161 runs losing 8 wickets in the 2nd innings of the match.
Jason Roy was out at 21 runs by Laughlin. His opening partner Daniel Hughes made 4 runs before leaving the pitch. He was dismissed by Stanlake. The bowler got Sean Abbott's wicket as Sean got out scoring none.
Another batsman, Maddinson, also scored a duck as Michael Neser got him out. Billings and Silk's wicket were scalped by Rashid Khan. Billing posted 8 runs while the later picked up his half-century before returning to the pavilion.
Their captain Johan Botha scored 25 runs and was dismissed by Laughlin. O'Keefe made 28 runs and got bowled by Neser. Dwarshuis remained unbeaten at 21 runs.
Alex Carey received the Man of the Match for his astounding knock of an unbeaten 83 runs.
Adelaide Strikers will face Brisbane heat at their own backyard on 31st December and Sydney Sixers will be visiting Perth on the first day in 2018.
