Former England captain Michael Vaughan has recently commented on the chances of a title win for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). He believed that RCB are not the title contenders this season.
“Can the RCB team win it this year? I’ve said that from the beginning, I don’t think they’ve got enough collectively to win it,” Vaughan told Cricbuzz.
Notably, RCB are yet to win a title while they are playing since its beginning. However, they reached the finals twice – in 2009 and 2016 but couldn’t win. Meanwhile, this season they started quite well with a bunch of young and experienced players. But they failed to keep their momentum on and lost their last four games.

Although they have qualified for the playoffs, they have to play a 'hard and aggressive Cricket' to win their maiden IPL title.
“Look anything is possible particularly in 2020, the world’s been turned upside down so who knows what’s gonna happen. Virat Kohli might bat left-handed and win them the game (in a gest) but it’s a tall order,” he said.
Despite having Aaron Finch, AB de Villiers, Chris Morris, Virat Kohli himself, young talent Dendutt Padikkal in the team, Vaughan said that there are not much players who can step up under pressure.
“I look at teams and individuals and see are there enough individuals in the RCB team full of confidence to play in the pressure that they would be under... I guess the one thing in RCB’s favour is that they’ve got no other options but to play hard and aggressive cricket,” Vaughan said.
Notably, yesterday RCB lost an important game to Delhi Capitals and now they will have to play their best game in the IPL Eliminator. In the game, Delhi Capitals successfully chased down the total of 153 with six balls to spare, courtesy Shikhar Dhawan (54) and Ajinkya Rahane (64).
Before they laid the winning foundation, it was the bowling unit of Delhi, who restricted RCB within a chasable target of 152 for seven. The win was important for Delhi too as they too lost four games on a trot.
