Chennai Super Kings lost yet another game in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) and lost their hope of qualifying for the playoffs in this season, courtesy Mumbai Indians’ fast bowling duo Trent Boult and Jasprit Bumrah who dismantled Chennai’s batting order before Kishan's heroics helped Mumbai Indians' register a comprehensive 10-wicket win.

After the win, CSK coach Stephen Fleming said that they lost the game in the powerplay itself after Boult and Bumrah had removed their top order.

With their stunning bowling, CSK were reduced to 3/3 inside the powerplay. Because of that, they failed to put up a decent total on the board. They managed only 114 runs in 20 overs, all thanks to Sam Curran who smashed a fifty.

"We were pretty stunned really. It was a terrible powerplay. To lose wickets so quickly, so frequently, the game was almost over in the powerplay. Obviously, we had a couple of young guys who had an opportunity we didn't work out," said Fleming during the post-match press conference.

"So the message during the time out was to have some runs on the board to give us half a chance in the game as our bowling was strong due to overseas players," he further added.

They made three changes as Ruturaj Gaikwad, Imran Tahir, and N Jagadeesan were added in the playing eleven. Howveer, things didn’t turn out the way they wanted. With this win, Mumbai Indians reched the top spot in the points table with 14 points from 10 games. Chennai, on the other hand, currently placed at the bottom of the points table.

"The pitches are becoming a little more difficult at times and our opening stands have been a little bit of mix. So the plan was to be positive and the reason why Ruturaj Gaikwad was there because we wanted to introduce Tahir to have some balance," said Fleming.
