After having faced a massive 82-run defeat against Royal Challengers Bangalore in Sharjah, Kolkata Knight Riders captain Dinesh Karthik said that it was one of those days when no play could really work out for them.
Batting first, Virat Kohli led Royal Challengers Bangalore got off to a steady start with Aaron Finch and the young talent Devdutt Padikkal. Later, an onslaught from AB de Villiers, who smashed 73 off 33 deliveries and built the winning foundation with the captain Virat Kohli, who scored a 28-ball-33 and helped the team, put up a decent total.

“He (de Villiers) is a world-class player and hard to stop him on a ground like this and at the end of the day his innings was the difference between both sides. I think every captain has a day like this where everything doesn't go according to plan and it's one of those days for me, I don't want to read too much into it,” Karthik said.
While AB and Kohli posted a competitive total, RCB’s spinners successfully restricted the KKR batsmen. Yuzvendra Chahal and Washington Sundar bowled some brilliant spells and dismantled the opposition’s batting order as well.
“We need to sit down and make sure there are new things we need to do better. Batting is one area we didn't do well today and that's something we gonna try and improve. We have three days break and we need to start fresh after that,” he concluded.
With this win, RCB are placed at the third position in the points table with 10 points with the net run rate -0.116. Meanwhile, Kolkata Knight Riders are at fourth place with 8 points from 7 games.
