Pakistan's batting coach Younis Khan said on Tuesday that he wants to implement what he had learnt from Bob Woolmer as he had learnt the art of man-management from him.

"I've always learnt a lot from Bob Woolmer...was really close to him. He had this knack of dealing differently with different people and I liked that. It's something I've tried to imbibe. To adapt to the different personalities and then help them on their respective weaknesses,’’ said Younis.

"I've been closely observing our batsmen in the nets to sort out their issues. As I mentioned, I've tried to be available to all of them, not only for their on-field issues but also their personal concerns, if any. Sometimes, personal issues can greatly effect your game and I'm trying to ensure that all of them are at peace. Skill and fitness can be worked upon but mental strength is equally vital,’’ he said.

Playing in England against the moving ball has always been a major challenge for the batsmen across the cricketing landscape. Even the best in the business have taken a bit of time to get acclimatised to the conditions, going up against the likes of James Anderson and Stuart Broad. Younis admitted that it would be challenging for the visitors to adapt to the different conditions ahead of the three-match Test series against England, starting on August 5.

"It's an open secret that batsmen struggle here, especially on their first tours," Younis said. "Batting isn't easy, more so when it's cold and overcast. It's crucial to play close to the body, under your eyes and play late with soft hands. We're working with the boys to ensure that they adapt. See, you cannot change your technique overnight. Maybe with the extremely young and raw players you can, but not with the established players. That'll surely backfire. So, it's about adapting and refining your technique to adjust with the conditions,'' he concluded.
