Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) CEO Wasim Khan revealed on Saturday that sending the Pakistan team to England was a difficult decision to be made during the escalating coronavirus worldwide pandemic.
After discussing the tour with the England and Wales Cricket Board [ECB] and having the opinions of the players he continued to go on with the decision with positive thinking, Wasim Khan said in a video.
“When the process of COVID-19 testing has started and some cricketers tested positive. We became depressed and were in great stress and pressure,” said Wasim Khan.

Players like Shadab Khan, Haris Rauf, Haider Ali, Fakhar Zaman, Mohammad Rizwan, Wahab Riaz, Imran Khan, Mohammad Hafeez, Mohammad Hasnain and Kashif Bhatti, were failed to clear the COVID-19 tests and got left out of the squad board to England in June.
However, a number of players got the clearance through the second test and then went for England to join the squad.
The CEO said that the time was difficult for the board, but the players showed good spirits and wanted to play and the West Indies going to England and playing matches also encouraged PCB to reach on a decision.
“We got a chance to review things, when the West Indies decided to go to England and play a series,” PCB CEO said.
“As far as our decision is concerned, the reason is nothing but the revival of cricket. At that time, the revival of the game was important for world cricket. The decision was made only for cricket,” he signed off.
