Ganguly in self isolation after his brother tests COVID-19 positive

Sourav Ganguly, president of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has been put in home quarantine after his brother Snehashish was diagnosed positive with the highly contagious virus.
The development comes roughly a month after Senhashish’s wife and in-laws had contracted COVID-19. It’s learnt that Snehashish was tested at a private pathological laboratory in Kolkata on Wednesday after which the result came out positive.
But another test is soon expected to be done for Senhashish, who is the secretary of Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB). After this news, all the members of Sourav’s family will be kept under self-isolation on the grounds of COVID suspicion.
Snehasish had reportedly shifted to the family’s ancestral house in Behala after several people at the former’s Mominpur residence contracted the virus.
“He (Senhashish) was suffering from fever for the last few days and his test report came positive today. He’s been admitted to Belle Vue Hospital,” a CAB official told PTI.
“The reports arrived late in the evening. As per health protocols, even Sourav will have to be in home quarantine for a stipulated period,” a source close to the BCCI President said.
A report in Indian Express claims that Sourav had celebrated his birthday on July 8 with all his family members. Now, he is expected to undergo isolation for 10 days.
The rumours of Snehashish contracting the virus had surfaced last month but he denied being infected by the virus.
Currently, West Bengal has 32,838 confirmed coronaviruses, out of which 11,927 are still active. Kolkata Police have already asked the CAB to set up a makeshift quarantine centre at Eden Gardens to address the surge of the novel virus in the state.
