Indian masterclass batsman Sachin Tendulkar described West Indies Test skipper Jason Holder as the most underrated all-rounder currently in world cricket.
Tendulkar made the surprising revelation while he was speaking during the live chat on Master Blaster’s app ‘100 MB’ beside West Indies legendary batsman Brian Lara.
Former Indian legendary batsman said that he is a terrific player to have in any side with his vital contribution in both batting and bowling ahead of the much-awaited first Test at Southampton.

“Jason Holder is the most under-rated all-rounder, because on the field, maybe you will look at Kemar Roach or Shannon Gabriel, but Jason Holder only when you look at the scoreboard, you realise that he has come in and taken three wickets,” Sachin Tendulkar said.
“When he is batting, he has scored those crucial 50-55 runs when it mattered, he is an underrated player but he contributes on a regular basis, he is a terrific player to have in your team,” Tendulkar at the programme.
The entire world is now eyeing on the England-West Indies Test match which is going to take place at Ageas Bowl today [8 July]. It’s going to be the first cricket match after the long break of sports across the world amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Test series will also see some new rules including saliva ban and corona replacement players. Along with that, the squads of both sides will also stay in a biosecure bubble during the long period of the series.
It’s going to be tough for the West Indies as the Caribbean side hasn’t won a series in England since 1988. So, it will undoubtedly be a hard fight for Jason Holder’s side.
Another legend Brian Lara also labelled Holder’s leadership as ‘critical’. After Sir Garry Sober, Holder is only the second West Indies player to hold No. 1 ranking among Test all-rounders.
Since January 2019, Holder is holding the top positions while England’s skipper for the first Test– Ben Stokes– is in the second with 407 points.
