Kusal Mendis released on bail

Sri Lankan cricketer Kusal Mendis has been released on bail a day after being arrested for running over a 64-year old-man in Panadura, just south of Colombo.
Additional Magistrate of Panadura granted the bail on two sureties worth Sri Lankan rupees one million on Monday [6 July]. He also reportedly ordered compensation worth one million to be paid to the victim's family,

Panadura Additional Magistrate granted Mendis's bail on two sureties worth 1 million Sri Lankan rupees on Monday (July 6). He further reportedly ordered compensation worth 1 million to be paid to the victim's family, who passed away due to the injuries.
The next hearing is scheduled for September 9, in the meantime, Mendis driving license has been temporarily suspended by the court.
The 25-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman has represented Sri Lanka in 44 Tests, 76 ODIs and 26 Twenty20Is, and was also the part of the Sri Lankas training camp in Pallekele earlier in the week.
