Aged Indian leg-spinner Pravin Vijay Tambe still is not certain about his chances of playing in the upcoming edition of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) despite being picked by Trinbago Knight Riders in the CPL auction.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had disqualified Tambe from this year’s after he was picked up by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the IPL Players’ Auction in December as he flouted the rules by appearing in an unsanctioned T10 league in Abu Dhabi last year without BCCI’s non-objection certificate (NOC).
The second largest and most popular T20 league after ICC World Cups has now been postponed indefinitely but the BCCI is trying to organise the cash-rich tournament in the September-October event.
The BCCI has given a condition to Temba’s participation in foreign league for which he has to formally retire from cricket first and then they will think to give him permission.

“Tambe has to retire in order to play foreign leagues,” a BCCI official said.
“In any case, the IPL governing council will have to decide on his fate as he has already flouted BCCI rules when he played T10 league in Abu Dhabi. He is an active domestic player,” he told the media.
That was exactly what all-rounder Yuvraj Singh did before he went to play in the Global T20 League in Canada.
Tambe had put his name in the draft as he was expecting to be picked by Shah Rukh Khan-owned-franchise Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) but his current indiscretion may not go unnoticed by the apex body BCCI.
He rose to fame after he made his IPL debut at the age of 41. He became the oldest IPL player in history when Rajasthan Royals v Delhi Daredevils at Jaipur in May 2013 in the cash-rich league in 2013.
The leggie has played 33 IPL matches in which he has taken 28 wickets at an average of 30.5.
In addition, the CPL is scheduled to be held between August 18 and September 10 behind closed doors in a stadium in Trinidad and Tobago, after permission from the local authorities.
