The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has asked the ICC to get a written assurance from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) that their team would face no hassle getting visas to play in the 2021 T20 World Cup and the 2023 ODI World Cup in India.
PCB Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Wasim Khan brought this up in an interview with the local YouTube channel.
“We’re also looking at the fact that the ICC World Cups are to be hosted in India in 2021 and 2023 and we’ve already asked the ICC to give us written assurances from BCCI that we’ll not face any problems getting visas and clearance to play in India,” Wasim Khan said.
A senior official of PCB asked ICC to get the assurances from the Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) within the next few months. The official has also confirmed that the executive board of ICC is going to decide in the next meet about the fate of the next T20 World Cup whether it’s going to be hosted in Australia or India.
Wasim Khan expressed his thoughts about the upcoming big events and said it was unlikely to be held this year in Australia.

Khan said that the ICC members felt the World T20 should be held in the October-November period in 2021 or 2022.
“The big question now is when the World T20 is held in 2021 will it be hosted by Australia or India as India has the hosting rights for the already scheduled World T20 Cup in 2021,” the PCB CEO said.
“The way things are, the gap available in 2022 will be used to accommodate the 2020 World T20 if it’s not held this year,” he added.
The CEO of PCB has also pointed out that in recent times many sports squads from Pakistan haven't got clearance by the government of India to play in India.
“That is why we’ve asked for the advance assurances. But eventually it’s an ICC event and it’s their responsibility to ensure we as a full member and signatory of the participants agreement go and play in these ICC events,” Khan added.
Khan also made it clear of not having a slight possibility about holding a bilateral series between Pakistan and India, at the moment.
“We’ve a good relationship with the BCCI but we know realistically a bilateral series is not possible in the foreseeable future,” he said.
There’s a speculation about the post of ICC Chairman where the name of Saurav Ganguly came into note who is currently the chief of BCCI. Regarding this Wasim Khan said that no candidate including Ganguly or Colin Greaves gave their clear intentions about it yet.
“We’re getting mixed signals and we don’t know if Ganguly will decide to stand for the ICC post,” he added.
