Sri Lanka Test and ODI skipper Dimuth Karunaratne said that he is confident enough to make a strong impression against Bangladesh in the upcoming home series, if it is played eventually after all the uncertainty.

Bangladesh was scheduled to play three-match Test series in June, which was part of the World Test Championship but due to the high risk of the COVID-19, the decision about the tour has not been finalized by the Bangladesh Cricket Board [BCB] though the Islander are not losing their hope about hosting the series.

“For me, any series is a good series. welcome Bangladesh [cricket team],” Dimuth told to an English daily.

On the target to host matches, they have already begun their training camp from June 1

It has been reported that if there's no international fixture to host in the country then they will go for Sri Lanka Premier League Twenty20 to prepare themselves for the ICC Twenty20 World Cup up ahead. And for Dimuth they are all padded up and ready to play.

“I am all for a SLPL. Sounds tough and yes, these kind of unplanned disruptions don’t help but if you’d flip the coin you’d have to say national cricketers are generally strong as much as rough riders. Therefore clear up the rust and we’d have to move on,” added the left-handed opening batsman.

“Starting with the new rules [set by the International Cricket Council based on coronavirus pandemic] will be a challenge. I am good with rationale controls based on hygienic necessities as lonas the bat versus ball challenge remains. Be that as it may, traveling and quarantining will be a huge mindset change. Sri Lanka are a tough team and I am sure we will face it head on,” Dimuth concluded.
